Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Two men, said to be suffering from depression,  were found hanging in separate areas in Manila on Saturday.

Maritime firm utility worker John Robert Gregg Elejan, 31, reportedly used a hose to hang himself in the firm’s building in Malate.

He was found hanging near the fire exit by fellow utility worker Rex Barcebal at around 3:10 p.m. He was rushed to the Philippine General Hospital, but he did not make it alive.

Police Officer 3 Alonzo Layugan of the Manila Police District said they are not ruling out foul play in the incident.

Elejan’s companions said he had been depressed, as his schedule to board a ship had been moved several times.

Several hours later, a scavenger was found hanging by the fence of the Manila Post Office in Liwasang Bonifacio.

The scavenger, identified only as Nonoy, said to be between 22 and 25 years old, was found by a three-year-old boy near the Muelle de Rio at around 7:30 p.m.

Senior Police Officer 2 Richard Escarlan said Nonoy had been suffering from depression.
