1 dead, 1 hurt in Malabon shooting

Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – A 38-year-old fish porter was shot dead while another was wounded in an attack by three still unidentified men in Concepcion, Malabon City Thursday night.

Fernando Goli died upon arriving at a hospital, Malabon police chief Senior Superintendent Severino Abad Jr. said.

Bystander Dennis Rivera, 49, was hit by a stray bullet, he added.

Abad said Goli was walking along Pilapil street at around 8 p.m. when three men blocked his path. One of the men shot him several times.

Goli’s relatives claimed that a certain “Pogi” warned the victim a few weeks ago to watch his back, Senior Police Officer 2 Jerry dela Torre said.

Goli had been reportedly been toting a gun in his neighborhood and investigators are trying to determine whether it had something to do with his murder.
