2 fires break out in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines – Ten families were left homeless while two firefighters were injured after two fires caused by faulty wiring broke out in Quezon City yesterday morning.

The first fire started in a two-story house owned by Alfredo Moreno in Commonwealth just before 8 a.m., fire marshal Jesus Fernandez said.

The blaze destroyed six houses and left 10 families homeless. No one was reported injured, but fire razed P100,000 in property before it was put out half an hour later.

Meanwhile, Fire Officer 3 Vic de Vera suffered lacerations on his nose while Fire Officer 1 Delfin Bayudang sustained wounds on his right arm when they opened the glass window of a burning three-story warehouse owned by Simpson Ong’s Dexterton Corp.

The fire started in the warehouse’s kitchen at past 9 a.m. and was put out at around 11:40 a.m. No one was killed in the fire, which destroyed P300,000 in property.
