MANILA, Philippines - An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who has just arrived from Qatar lost cash and other valuables to a woman who befriended her at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City.
Sarina Jimmy, a resident of General Santos City, reported the incident to the Mandaluyong police.
Jimmy told police that she arrived at the NAIA Terminal 3 at around 10 a.m. on Thursday. She did not know the boarding gate for her connecting flight to General Santos City. A woman approached her and offered help.
The woman brought Jimmy instead to the Metro Rail Transit EDSA-Taft station where they took the train to Boni station in Mandaluyong City.
While waiting for another train to ride, the victim was pushed into the rail tracks by a commuter, causing her injuries.
The woman accompanied the OFW to a clinic in the area. While being attended to by a health worker, the woman disappeared along with the victim’s luggage, which contained her one-year salary, mobile phone, jewelry and clothes.
Police are coordinating with the MRT management to be able to identify the suspect through their closed-circuit television cameras.
