MANILA, Philippines – It took firefighters using more than 50 fire trucks at least 30 hours to put out a fire that gutted a cardboard factory in Barangay Bagong Bayan, Quezon City.
The fire, which broke out at the gluing kitchen of the warehouse of Lucio Yan’s Boxboard Containers Corp. on Obrero street before 10 p.m. Thursday, was put out at past 8 a.m. yesterday, city fire marshal Jesus Fernandez said.
He said it took more than 30 hours for them to put out the fire because sheets of paper and corrugated cardboard were stacked several meters high in the warehouse.
The blaze was contained at around noon Friday, but reached Task Force Bravo, which means that fire trucks from all over Metro Manila and nearby areas are supposed to respond.
No one was reported killed in the fire, which caused ash to fall over some areas in the metropolis.
The fire’s estimated damage is at P7 million, Fernandez said.
A volunteer firefighter and two others were injured in the fire.
