MANILA, Philippines – The state-owned Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) welcomed Malacañang’s appointment its new chairperson of the board and three board directors.

President Aquino appointed Ma. Aurora Geotina-Garcia as board chairperson, replacing Rolando Gosiengfiao, who passed away in January.

Garcia has been a BCDA board director since 2011. She is currently the president of Mageo Consulting Inc., a firm that provides financial advice. She was the head of SGV & Co.’s corporate finance practice for 27 years.

BCDA president and CEO Arnel Paciano Casanova, who also serves as vice chairperson of the board, said Garcia is the first woman chairperson of the BCDA board.

Aquino also named three new members of the BCDA’s board of directors: retired Armed Forces chief Gen. Gregorio Pio Catapang, Joseph Emile Juico and Gerard Seno Catapang retired in July.

Juico was assistant secretary under the Office of the Executive Secretary and is currently the lead coordinator for local government units at the Office of the Director General for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit 2015. He also served as Quezon City councilor for three consecutive terms from 2004 to 2013.

Seno is currently the national executive vice president of the Associated Labor Unions and is co-convenor of Nagkaisa, a coalition of labor unions and groups advocating workers’ rights. He served as BCDA board director from 2001 to 2010.
