Vandolph files COC based on feng shui advice
MANILA, Philippines – Actor Vandolph Quizon filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) yesterday ahead of the scheduled mass filing on Friday by fellow local Liberal Party (LP) candidates, led by reelectionist Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez, a source said yesterday.
Olivarez was set to lead the mass filing after a mass and a parade on Friday morning.
Quizon, a son of actress Alma Moreno, is among the celebrities who will run for city councilor next year under the LP’s banner. He reportedly asked permission to file his COC ahead upon the advice of a feng shui expert consulted by his mother.
“According to the expert, the number 13 is a lucky number so they decided to file the COC,” the source said.
Quizon took his oath as LP member at the party’s headquarters in Quezon City last month.
His mother, who is on her third and last term as Parañaque councilor, is reportedly joining the senatorial slate of Vice President Jejomar Binay’s United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).
Moreno, ex-wife of former Parañaque mayor Joey Marquez, has been joining Binay’s provincial sorties for the past months.
Moreno, who ran under LP in 2013, lobbied for her son’s inclusion in Olivarez’s camp, according to a city hall source.
Marquez’s son, Jeremy, has filed his COC as an independent candidate for vice mayor against reelectionist Rico Golez of the LP.
Singer Roselle Nava and actor John Ryan Yllana, both incumbent councilors, will seek reelection under Olivarez’s ticket. Yllana is the younger brother of former Parañaque vice mayor and now Quezon City Councilor Anjo Yllana.
Professional basketball coaches Jason Webb and Vincent “Binky” Favis, incumbent councilors in District 1 and 2, respectively, will seek reelection under the LP.
Nava, Webb and Favis ran under UNA in the last elections while Yllana was a Partido ng Masa member.
On the other hand, incumbent Councilor Viktor Eriko “Wahoo” Sotto, son of former city councilor Val Sotto and nephew of Eat Bulaga host Vic Sotto, is also included in Olivarez’s slate, according to a source. Viktor’s first cousins Gian and Lala Sotto, son and daughter of Sen. Tito Sotto, are both incumbent councilors of District 3 and 6 in Quezon City, respectively.
