Manila bans liquor during Bar exams

MANILA, Philippines - Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada has ordered a liquor ban around the University of Santo Tomas (UST), where the Bar examinations will be held during the four Sundays of November this year.

The Bar exams will be administered by the Supreme Court on Nov. 8, 15, 22 and 29.

Estrada signed an ordinance, which prohibits the sale of beer and other alcoholic products in the vicinity of UST between 4 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Violators will be fined P200 and imprisoned for six months.

Estrada said the city government would revoke the business permit of stores violating the ordinance.
