10 hurt as AUV hits armored van
MANILA, Philippines - At least 10 women, including a Philippine Coast Guard officer, were injured when the Asian utility vehicle they were riding collided with an armored van at the intersection of Macapagal Boulevard and Aseana Avenue in Parañaque City yesterday morning.
Lt. Dona Maldo was taken to the San Juan de Dios Hospital. The police report identified some of the victims as Elizabeth Duro, Kristine Diane Halili, Ma. Rose Conales, Luigi Salvacion, Janine Lazaga, Sherry Mae Antonio, Mary Joyce Manganaan and Jenifer Pagulayan.
Giron Panader, the armored van’s driver, said he was going through the intersection when the Nissan Urvan, driven by Rosauro Riza, suddenly turned left.
Both drivers, who have been detained, claimed the lights were green when they crossed the intersection.
The armored van was bound for Cavite while the AUV was on its way to Manila.
