4 Manila cops face raps for murder of councilor aide’s son

MANILA, Philippines - A driver of Manila Councilor Irma Alfonso yesterday filed murder charges against four policemen for reportedly killing his 16-year-old son in his sleep on Monday afternoon.

Christopher Florentino said he will also file charges against the alleged killers of his son, Cyrus, with the Office of the Ombudsman.

He said Police Officers 2 Roy Navarro, Ronald Allan Martin, Dennis Buenaventura and Jolito Ramoneso – all assigned to the Smokey Mountain police precinct – are still on duty and their service firearms were not confiscated.

The police officers claimed Cyrus was a robbery suspect and they killed him in a shootout, but Tolentino said witnesses insisted the boy was asleep in his cousin’s apartment when the police officers barged in and Navarro shot him.

“I want justice for my son. I will see these policemen in court,” Christopher said.

A 16-year-old girl who witnessed the incident has given her testimony to the Manila Police District’s general assignment section.
