‘Violent’ Uber driver may lose license – LTFRB

MANILA, Philippines - The license of an Uber driver who allegedly became violent may be revoked by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), an official said yesterday.

LTFRB board member Ariel Inton said he will recommend revoking the license of Niccolo Lizaso since he was operating a transport network vehicle without a provisional authority and franchise from the LTFRB.

In her complaint, flight attendant Christine Fulgencio alleged that Lizaso “threw a fit” after she failed to put her exact location when she booked a ride from Valle Verde 2 to Valle Verde 6 in Pasig City on Sept. 24.

She said Lizaso got out of the car and opened the door on her side, a metal pipe in hand, and shouted and cursed at her.

Fulgencio was unable to attend the LTFRB hearing yesterday since she was on duty.

Lizaso admitted that Fulgencio was his passenger, but denied her allegations. He refused to answer questions by board members but said he will file his explanation on Oct. 21.

He said he applied for accreditation with Uber last month. He also said that he owns the vehicle he was driving when the incident happened.
