Alexis Romero - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – A fire broke out at the Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, displacing 10 families over the weekend.

Army spokesman Col. Benjamin Hao said the fire started at around 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Enlisted Personnel Quarters 11.

Reports said the blaze started at an apartment occupied by a certain S/Sgt. Dalusong.

Damage to property was placed at P1.2 million.

“The affected families were transferred to the Enlisted Personnel Transient Quarters,” Hao said.

Three Army fire trucks immediately responded to the site. Eight fire trucks from the Bureau of Fire Protection and volunteers from Taguig and Pasig helped put out the fire.

Firefighters took more than one hour to contain the blaze. Arson investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
