Chinese held over 15 kilos of shabu

MANILA, Philippines - A Chinese man was arrested in a sting in Pasay City Friday night by members of the Southern Police District (SPD) anti-illegal drug unit, who seized around 15 kilos of high-grade methamphetamine hydrochloride from the suspect.

The seized shabu has a street value of approximately P13 million, police said.

Zhou Jiangou, 34, was arrested shortly after receiving P800,000 in marked money from an undercover police officer who pretended to be a buyer, the SPD said.

The sting was staged along the Roxas Boulevard service road near its intersection with Gil Puyat Avenue at around 6:15 p.m., the SPD said.

The SPD said the drugs were seized from Zhou’s gray Hyundai Tucson (NIC 513).

Zhou is being held at the SPD headquarters as charges of illegal possession of drugs and drug trafficking are being readied against him.
