Man kills partner, stabs daughter

MANILA, Philippines - A man stabbed dead his partner and wounded their two-year-old daughter in a fit of jealousy in Caloocan City Sunday afternoon.

Barangay officials arrested Zaldy Onganion, 31, when he tried to escape as neighbors took Cherry Ann Cornelio, 22, to the Tondo General Hospital, where she died from several stab wounds.

Their daughter, Cherry Lyn, is under observation at the Caloocan City Medical Center.

Neighbors heard Cornelio and Onganion quarrelling in their house in BMBA Compound, Barangay 120 at around noon.

“The suspect was jealous because he had been hearing rumors that the victim was having an affair with another man,” said a neighbor, who asked not to be named.

During the argument, Onganion took a knife and stabbed Cornelio repeatedly, also hitting their daughter in the arm.
