‘No jobs for Pinoy maids in China’

Mayen Jaymalin - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has warned Filipino domestic helpers to refrain from accepting job offers in China.

POEA chief Hans Cacdac issued the warning, noting that the number of undocumented Filipino workers in China is increasing.

Citing information from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Cacdac said most of the undocumented Filipino household service workers were reported in Hong Kong and Macau.

“Foreign nationals cannot work legally as household service workers in China as the country has not relaxed its immigration policy for unskilled workers such as nannies, caregivers and household helpers,” Cacdac said.
