LTFRB nabs Tripid driver
MANILA, Philippines - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) apprehended an unregistered vehicle operating under ride-sharing service Tripid in an entrapment operation Tuesday afternoon.
LTFRB executive director Roberto Cabrera said yesterday one of his men pretended to be a passenger and booked a ride through the Tripid booking application.
He said the driver of the Toyota Innova (PIG-435), whom he asked not to be named, was arrested when the undercover LTFRB personnel arrived at the Blue Wave mall in Marikina, where LTFRB and Land Transportation Office (LTO) operatives were waiting.
He said the vehicle he used was a transport network vehicle (TNV) not registered with the LTFRB.
LTO records show the vehicle is registered to Imelda dela Paz of Makati City.
Cabrera said the vehicle driver will be charged with violating the two agencies’ Joint Administrative Order for operating as a colorum or unregistered vehicle.
He faces a P200,000 fine and the vehicle will be impounded for three months.
The LTFRB previously accepted accreditation for transport network companies (TNCs) and their partner TNVs. The LTFRB has granted accreditations to GrabCar and Uber.
LTFRB chairman Winston Ginez earlier said they have started apprehending unregistered TNCs and TNVs since Aug. 20.
