Man kills neighbor for throwing rocks at house

MANILA, Philippines - A man stabbed dead his neighbor for throwing rocks at his house and hitting his mother on the head, in Manila on Sunday night.

Construction worker Miguel Picardal, 51, died at the Gat Andres Bonifacio Hospital due to several wounds. His attacker, Victor Cabacang, 27, escaped.

Picardal and Cabacang were part of a group drinking in the slums of Baseco at around 7 p.m., the Manila Police District homicide section said.

The incident started when the two men got into a heated argument. Cabacang went home to avoid a fight.

Picardal and their other friends, however, tailed Cabacang.

Picardal threw rocks at Cabacang’s shanty after they reached his house, and hit Cabacang’s mother, Clarita, on the head.

Cabacang grabbed a knife and attacked Picardal, who tried to run away. Cabacang stabbed Picardal in the stomach.

When Joel Meneses tried to intervene, Cabacang stabbed him as well.

Meneses survived but Picardal was pronounced dead at the hospital.
