Guard kills alleged burglar

MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested a security guard of the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) after he shot dead a man he suspected to be a burglar early yesterday morning in Quezon City.

Police said Raymond Calub, 31, of Barangay Tatalon, is facing homicide charges.

Inspector Rohaina Asalan, Quezon City Police District deputy information officer, said Calub shot an unidentified man whom he caught on a closed-circuit television scaling the concrete fence of the HLURB building at 3:16 a.m.

The man died at the scene. Police described him to be between 20 and 30 years old and bearing tattoos.

Police recovered an Armscor 9mm pistol from Calub.
