San Juan installs 40 CCTV cameras
MANILA, Philippines - The city government of San Juan is installing more than 40 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at intersections and key areas in the city to curb crimes, an official said yesterday.
Mayor Guia Gomez said the installation of the CCTV cameras is almost done and they are expected to be operational soon.
“The installation of the CCTV cameras was aimed to keep track of the activities of criminals and help solve crimes,” she said.
Aside from installing surveillance cameras in crime-prone areas of the city, Gomez said all chokepoints and intersections would also have CCTV cameras to ease traffic congestion.
She also urged all barangays and business establishments to link their cameras to the CCTV monitoring system of the city government.
Gomez said the city government has an ordinance that requires business establishments to install CCTV cameras on the premises.
“They have to comply not only because it is an ordinance but it is for their own safety,” the mayor said.
