Valisno bus owner snubs LTFRB probe

MANILA, Philippines - The owner of Valisno Express Bus Liner, which was involved in an accident that killed four persons and injured 18 others in Quezon City, was a no-show during the probe at the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) yesterday.

The LTFRB issued a show cause order against Rosalinda Valisno and bus driver George Pacis to attend the next hearing set on Aug. 25.

Citing depression as a reason, Valisno was instead represented by her secretary Vivian Martinez and lawyer Francisco Blanes.

LTFRB Chairman Winston Ginez said the board would hold Valisno in contempt if she fails to attend the next hearing.

“She can even be arrested and sent to jail,” Ginez said.

Blanes said they would bail out Pacis, who tested positive for shabu, and bring him to the next hearing.

Pacis was allegedly high on drugs when he figured in the crash in Quezon City on Aug. 12.

LTO spokesman Jason Salvador said the driver’s license of Pacis will be revoked for violating the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act. 

The Department of Labor and Employment said the bus company is facing more sanctions for possible violations of labor regulations.

Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said she ordered the DOLE Central Luzon regional office to determine if Valisno has been issued a labor standards compliance certificate.
