3 boys die from lightning strike

MANILA, Philippines - Three boys died when lightning struck as they were swimming in the waters of Manila Bay off the Baseco Compound in Tondo, Manila during a heavy downpour Thursday.

The bodies of MJ Arigadas, 12; Nielson Huit, 13; and Rodrigo Rial, 17, were washed ashore and found at around 5 p.m. Thursday by security guard Cerilo Malamig, said Superintendent Albert Barrot of the Manila Police District Station 5.

Two other boys, who were playing in the water with the victims, survived.

They were rushed to the Gat Andres Hospital for treatment and released yesterday.
