UERMMC asked to expel student tagged in UP attacks
MANILA, Philippines - The University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Medical Center (UERMMC) has been asked to expel one of its students tagged in the attacks at the University of the Philippines campus in Diliman, Quezon City.
Lawyer Amado Danilo Tayag said they have filed an expulsion complaint against Rudolf Gene Karlo Neral, a second year student of the UERMMC College of Medicine.
Tayag said the administrative complaint was based on violations of the rules governing students of the university.
Neral, a UP graduate, was among the five members of Upsilon Sigma Phi fraternity accused of taking part in the attacks against members of Alpha Sigma fraternity on June 18.
The other suspects are Cheran Cabrito, Rannie Mercado, Sean Rodriguez and Elias Miles Villanueva. They are facing frustrated murder charges before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court.
Neral’s lawyer Wilfredo Garrido Jr. described the expulsion complaint as mere harassment.
