MANILA, Philippines - A website of a Philippine National Police (PNP) support unit was hacked Sunday night, an official said yesterday.

The Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) website, pspg.pnp.gov.ph, was hacked at around 11 p.m. Sunday, but the incident is “an isolated matter,” PNP spokesperson Chief Superintendent Generoso Cerbo Jr. said.

The PSPG provides police escorts for persons whose safety is at risk.

Cerbo assured the public the PNP has security measures in place for more than 100 official websites of the PNP’s main and supporting units.

The PSPG’s website was defaced by a hacker who identified himself as “Leon HDZ.” The hacker posted a photograph of a faceless man in a suit with a red necktie and vulgar words on the website’s home page.

Cerbo said the PSPG is working with the Information Technology Management System and the Anti-Cybercrime Group to restore the website and track down the hacker.
