Enrile to undergo 3-day eye checkup

MANILA, Philippines - Detained Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile will undergo a three-day eye checkup at the Asian Eye Institute (AEI) in Makati City. 

The Philippine National Police (PNP) informed the Sandiganbayan yesterday of the schedule after the 91-year-old lawmaker was moved back to Camp Crame Thursday morning.

Enrile, currently under hospital arrest due to plunder charges arising from his alleged involvement in the pork barrel fund scam, will be brought to the AEI today and on March 23 and 24.

In a letter sent yesterday to the Sandiganbayan Third Division, PNP health services chief Teresita Dumlao said Enrile had returned to the PNP General Hospital on Thursday after almost a month’s confinement at the Makati Medical Center due to pneumonia.
