3 dead, 4 hurt in QC fire

MANILA, Philippines - Three persons died and four others were injured when a fire, reportedly caused by a carelessly thrown cigarette butt, razed at least 12 houses in Barangay Gulod, Quezon City Monday night.

The fire allegedly started in Julieta Latona’s house, particularly in the room of her son, Ramon, according to fire marshal Jesus Fernandez.

Michele Perez, 20; Reymel Santos, 18; and Kylle Cervano, 3, died in the blaze.

Ronald Cabrera, 43, and Rosalie Sebrano, 43, sustained fractured ankles. Rose Anne Cervano, 24, suffered abrasions while Elena Cabrera, 64, sustained burns on her neck. 

Arson investigators said the fire destroyed around P200,000 worth of properties and left 20 families homeless before it was put out at around 1:30 a.m. yesterday.
