Man sent to NCMH for sister’s slay
MANILA, Philippines — A man will not face charges for killing his sister after she insulted him in front of their neighbors in Tondo, Manila Thursday night, police said yesterday.
The 44-year-old man will be sent to the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH), upon his family’s request, according to Senior Police Officer 1 Charles Duran of the Manila Police District’s homicide investigation section.
He said the man’s sister, 45, was near the gate of their house when she called her brother to go inside. Instead of using her brother’s name, the victim called him “supot (uncircumcised).”
As their neighbors laughed, the man ran into the house, grabbed a knife, and stabbed his sister thrice. The victim was declared dead on arrival at the Tondo General Hospital.
Barangay officials arrested the man, who kept insisting that he was circumcised as he was brought to the MPD headquarters.
