Woman slain, daughter hurt in Caloocan attack

Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A 42-year-old housewife was killed while her 19-year-old daughter was reported to be in critical condition after two men on a motorcycle shot them in front of their house in Caloocan City Monday afternoon.

Marilyn San Pedro was declared dead on arrival at the Dr. Jose Rodriguez Memorial Hospital from gunshot wounds in the head while Rachelle, a hotel and restaurant management student, is under observation at the FEU Hospital.

The two women had just stepped out of their house at around 5:30 p.m. when they were attacked, Superintendent Rey Ariza said. He said Marilyn recently had a spat with a neighbor, which led to cases being filed with barangay officials.

Ariza said while they cannot ascertain if the cases are connected to the attack, there are indications that their assailants were contract killers.
