Suspected MILF, wife nabbed in drug sting

MANILA, Philippines - Amid issues on the killings of 44 Special Action Force commandos by Moro Islamic Liberation Front fighters in Mamasapano, Maguindanao, an alleged MILF member and his wife were arrested in a drug sting in San Miguel, Manila Tuesday.

Aminodin Guinto, 21, and Marize, 21, both of Arlegui street, San Miguel, reportedly yielded a kilo of shabu with an estimated street value of P3.5 million and marked money, said Jeoffrey Tacio, regional director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Region 3.

Tacio said the suspects were arrested by agents the PDEA-3, PDEA-National Capital Region and PDEA-Special Enforcement Service at their home in San Miguel.

He said the couple’s companions fired at the PDEA agents as they were about to arrest the suspects.

No one was arrested among the gunmen who fled after firing at the officers.

Tacio said the arresting team recovered an MILF identification card from Aminodin.
