3 rob suspects nabbed in Quezon City
MANILA, Philippines - Three suspected robbers were arrested during an anti-crime drive in Quezon City last week, an official said yesterday.
Gillan Garcia, Marnan Deray and Arnold Giliw were flagged down for riding a motorcycle without a license plate at the intersection of Mapayapa and Mabilis street at around 10 p.m. on Jan. 22 by members of the city police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, according to Quezon City Police District director Senior Superintendent Joel Pagdilao.
When the lawmen asked for the driver’s license of Deray and the motorcycle’s ownership papers, Deray reportedly introduced himself as a policeman and presented a police officer’s badge, whose serial number had been erased.
The police officers frisked the three suspects and found a hand grenade, a loaded .38 caliber revolver, bullets, knives, and uniforms for a police officer and a Marine.
The three suspects were charged with driving without a license and without helmets, unlawful possession of explosives, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and usurpation of authority before the city prosecutor’s office.
