MANILA, Philippines - A man was killed while nine others were wounded after five men in a car shot at them in Barangay Pio del Pilar, Makati City at past midnight yesterday.

Jesus Garcia, 22, was declared dead on arrival at the Makati Medical Center (MMC), according to a report received by the Southern Police District.

Michael Bagang, Jay Sapanta, Christoper Yvan, Jad Jerome Wong, Mark Jospeh Canda, Arnel Manalangan, Juan Carlos Zamorra, Oliver Agbayani, and Chris Ivan Paulino were also taken to the MMC for treatment.

The victims were drinking beer along Tylo street at around 12:45 a.m. when five men in a silver Toyota Innova, which had no license plates, stopped in front of them and started shooting, hitting Garcia in the torso, according to case investigator Senior Police Officer 1 Nilo Sadsad.

The assailants sped away after the attack. Empty shells from an M-16 rifle, a 9mm pistol and an AK-47 rifle were recovered from the scene.

Sadsad said a feud with another group could have triggered the shooting.
