Siblings shot in Tondo

MANILA, Philippines - A 21-year-old man died and his sister was wounded when a gunman on a motorcycle shot them in Tondo, Manila at dawn yesterday.

Edwin Catran died while being taken to the Gat Andres Hospital, police said.

Initial investigation showed that Catran and his sister, Rosemarie Sespene, 26, were walking home when the assassin shot them.

Sespene was hit in the arm but was declared out of danger.

Police probers are looking at jealousy as possible motive for the attack, said Senior Police Officer 3 Glenzor Vallejo of the Manila Police District homicide section.

The siblings had just left the house of Catran’s partner when they were waylaid at the corner of Wagas and Sgt. Mabagos streets in Tondo.
