Cordillera rob gang chief nabbed in Taguig
MANILA, Philippines - The alleged leader of a robbery group, tagged as the most wanted person in the Cordillera region, was arrested in Taguig City Saturday.
Freddie Mar Ambasing, 27, did not resist arrest when he was caught in a house in Purok 5 on Trinanes street before 7 a.m. Saturday.
Ambasing’s arrest stemmed from a warrant issued by Tabuk City Regional Trial Court Branch 27 Judge Marcelino Wacas for carjacking and robbery with intimidation and violence.
Intelligence Group (IG) director Chief Superintendent Fernando Mendez said Ambasing reportedly leads the Dandan Ambasing robbery group, believed to be behind the robberies and carjackings in Kalinga and neighboring provinces.
Ambasing went into hiding in Taguig City after Wacas issued at least four warrants for his arrest, Mendez said.
Senior Superintendent Ronald Lee, chief of the IG’s counter-intelligence division, said Ambasing is facing at least 12 carjacking and eight robbery cases before various courts in the Cordillera region.
Ambasing remains silent on the charges against him.
