MANILA, Philippines - An unidentified man lobbed a grenade at the Northern Police District (NPD) Special Operations Unit office in Caloocan City at past midnight yesterday.
The blast damaged a Toyota Corolla (XSJ-287) and Toyota Altis (PIB-878) that were parked in front of the building, according to initial reports.
A police officer, who refused to be identified, said the man later escaped on a motorcycle driven by an accomplice.
The same office was also bombed on May 18, 2014. The blast wounded a 17-year-old girl. No one was hurt during yesterday’s explosion.
Chief Superintendent Jonathan Miano, NPD director, said they are checking the cases they handled and the arrests they made during the past few months.
A drug and robbery gang operating in northern Metro Manila was believed to be responsible for the first explosion.
Miano said surveillance cameras installed outside the police building failed to record the incident.
