MANILA, Philippines - A man who stabbed the tongue of a medical student he robbed in Valenzuela City was arrested in Malabon City Wednesday night.
Raymond Cabuhat, 30, a resident of Mangustan street in Barangay Potrero, was nabbed by Valenzuela police officers while gambling along a street near his house shortly before 10 p.m.
Regina Castro, a medical student of Our Lady of Fatima University, was walking along Bautista street in Barangay Marulas at about 6:45 a.m. Wednesday when Cabuhat attacked her and demanded that she hand over her valuables, Valenzuela police chief Senior Superintendent Rhoderick Armamento said.
Castro reportedly began screaming for help, attracting the attention of residents. Cabuhat stabbed Castro’s tongue then fled with her money, mobile phone and sphygmomanometer.
Castro and another previous victim he also wounded identified Cabuhat, said Armamento.
“We also have information that he hurts his victims to intimidate them. He has also several criminal cases in Malabon and there are at least three complainants in Valenzuela,” he said.
Malabon police chief Senior Superintendent Severino Abad Jr. confirmed that Cabuhat is considered one of the city’s notorious robbers.
