MANILA, Philippines - A Honda CRV driven by a 17-year-old boy fell into a creek in Quezon City before dawn yesterday.

The boy – who had two other boys, aged 16 and 17, as passengers – was executing a U-turn along Araneta Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to fall into the creek, according to Superintendent Ely Pintang, who heads the Quezon City police’s traffic enforcement unit.

The boy suffered slight injuries.

A Metropolitan Manila Development Authority rescue team arrived at the scene and towed the vehicle.

Investigators have yet to confirm if the boy was driving while drunk.

The minimum age to get a driver’s license in the Philippines is 18.

The previous day, Heherson Cabuenas, 35, and his wife, Eunice, were injured when their car hit the center island along Katipunan Avenue at around 2:30 p.m. and turned over, Pintang said.
