Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A five-year-old girl drowned in the swimming pool of a resort in Valenzuela City during a Christmas Eve outing with her family.

Natalie Rose Años’ family was having a picnic at the Rolling Hills Resort and Orchards when her mother left the girl with a family friend, Jinky Abbelano, to prepare their things shortly before 4 p.m., according to Senior Superintendent Rhoderick Armamento, city police chief.

Abbelano reportedly left the girl to take pictures of her daughter and mother when she heard people shouting that Años was drowning. She jumped into the pool and rescued the girl, who was declared dead on arrival at the nearby Vian Family Hospital.
