MANILA, Philippines - Five alleged members of a carjacking syndicate were arrested after one of them was found with five license plates of stolen motorcycles in Quezon City yesterday.
Ramon Africa, Edilberto Africa, Paulino Villasis and James Suzuki were arrested in Barangay Culiat hours after their companion, Edwin Africa, pointed their location to the police, said Senior Superintendent Joel Pagdilao, Quezon City police director.
Pagdilao said Edwin, who was on a motorcycle, was pulled over by his men at around 1 a.m. in Cubao.
Superintendent Wilson delos Santos, chief of QCPD-Station 7, said Edwin failed to show a certificate of registration for his motorcycle and was found with five motorcycle plates.
During interrogation, Edwin reportedly confessed to being a member of a criminal group and pointed to their hideout in Barangay Culiat.
Police raided the hideout in Park Compound and found five motorcycles without license plates and a taxicab believed stolen by the group.
The suspects also yielded illegal drugs, police said.
