Cop, MMDA man swap raps over road rage

Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A policeman and a traffic enforcer of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) filed charges against each other following a road altercation in Cubao, Quezon City Tuesday night.

Police Officer 2 Resty Ocampo of the Northern Police District filed a complaint for unjust vexation against Jerome Bolivar, who allegedly shouted invectives at him during the incident.

Bolivar, for his part, filed charges of grave threats against Ocampo for allegedly poking a gun at him.

A report from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said the incident happened at past 10 a.m. along the northbound lane of EDSA in Cubao.

Bolivar was on his motorcycle with its siren and blinker on when Ocampo, who was in his car, took a video of him, prompting the MMDA traffic enforcer to order Ocampo to pull over.

Upon reaching a bus terminal, Bolivar confronted Ocampo and asked why he was taking a video of him.

The police officer replied that the use of blinker and siren was no longer allowed.

A heated argument ensued between the two, with the policeman allegedly poking his gun at Bolivar.

Police Officer 1 Froilan Macaraeg saw the commotion and intervened. He brought Bolivar and Ocampo to the QCPD Station 7.
