Suspect in grenade attacks arrested
MANILA, Philippines - The man allegedly behind a series of grenade attacks on the Manila Police District’s (MPD) Raxabago police station was arrested yesterday after hiding for eight months.
Christopher Bajar, alias Christopher Mendoza, was arrested by police officers at a building in Tondo’s Aroma Compound.
Bajar has been under surveillance since March, after the first grenade-lobbing incident at the police station. He was also placed as MPD’s most wanted man.
Acting MPD director Senior Superintendent Rolando Nana said Bajar reportedly lobs a grenade at the MPD Station 1 in Raxabago “each time one of his cohorts is arrested.”
A source said Bajar was able to evade four anti-crime drives intended to arrest him. Aside from robbery, Bajar is also wanted for murder and frustrated murder.
