Chinese trader hurt in Binondo shooting

MANILA, Philippines -  A Chinese businesswoman was wounded after being shot by a Chinese businessman in Binondo, Manila over the weekend.

Police said Jenny Lu, owner of Lucky Power glassware store, was taken to the Gat Andres Bonifacio Medical Center for treatment.

Her assailant, Benson Uy, was rushed to the hospital after he shot himself, Senior Police Officer 2 Jonathan Bautista of the Manila Police District homicide unit said.

Investigation showed that Lu was inside her store along Elcano street when Uy shot her at around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Rose Anchetta, an employee of the victim, told police she saw the suspect draw a .45 caliber gun and shoot Lu twice.

Uy then ran away and shot himself, Anchetta said.

Police are still investigating the incident.
