MANILA, Philippines - A nine-year-old girl and her father died in Parola, Manila yesterday when bullets intended to kill a former barangay chairman hit them.
Engie Surigao, 39, died on the spot, while his daughter, Akisha, died while undergoing treatment at the Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center in Manila.
The attackers later killed their target, Ely Saluib, a former barangay chairman.
Inspector Steve Casimiro, head of Manila Police District’s homicide section, said investigators have yet to determine the motive for Saluib’s murder.
