DILG probes Bulacan pol’s kin for road rage
MANILA, Philippines - The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is investigating an alleged road rage incident wherein a University of the Philippines (UP) professor and her children were intimidated by armed occupants of a vehicle registered to a Bulacan political family.
Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas called on the public to be vigilant and report any abuses by motorists who are “utak wang-wang,” or those who believe that the authority lent by sirens can be used to bully other motorists.
“The DILG is looking into the incident and we can’t let it pass without anyone facing the consequence of their actions,” he added.
The professor’s husband, another UP professor, also filed a complaint about the incident in Quezon City.
The female professor identified a white Land Cruiser (PQS-904) and a silver Toyota Innova (ZEL-124) as the two vehicles she encountered along Congressional Avenue at around noon on Oct. 27.
Records showed the Innova is registered to Priscilla Meneses, mother of Bulacan, Bulacan Mayor Patrick Meneses.
The Land Cruiser is registered to Mactan Construction Co., with business address along N. Domingo street in San Juan.
In the complaint the female professor filed with the Quezon City Police District, she said an occupant of the Land Cruiser pulled a gun on her son after cutting them off. The armed man said he was escorting the Innova’s occupants.
Roxas urged the public to report such incidents to the DILG or to the police.
