FB photo leads to slay suspect

Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A picture that was posted on the Facebook account of a call center agent weeks after he was stabbed dead led to the arrest of his killer in Caloocan City Thursday night.

Felix Salut, 22, construction worker, admitted that he killed Norman Mercado on Sept. 20 after a drinking spree. Mercado was found dead in his apartment in Camarin.

An application on Mercado’s mobile phone, stolen by Salut, automatically uploads photos taken using the phone to the victim’s Facebook account.

The victim’s father went to Superintendent Reynante Ariza, Caloocan North Extension station commander, to search for a woman whose photo was uploaded on Mercado’s account.

The woman, Rowena Pabre, told police she bought the device from Salut for P1,000.
