PhlPost holds on-the-spot stamp design contest

Evelyn Macairan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Postal Corp. (PhlPost) will hold an on-the-spot stamp design contest on Oct. 24 as part of preparations for Pope Francis’ visit to the country in January next year.

Themed “A Nation of Mercy and Compassion,” the contest is open to students and professionals.

The student category is composed of elementary, high school and college students from public and private schools. The professional category is open to artists, designers, illustrators and other interested parties.

The contest will be held in selected participating Robinsons Malls in Metro Manila at 1 p.m. on Oct. 24.

The top two winning designs will be featured in the Papal Visit Postage Stamps to be launched by PhlPost for local and international circulation.

PhlPost said the winning designs would be featured in a special souvenir frame to be given to the Holy Father.

The artwork must interpret the theme of the papal visit. Entries must be made on an 8 3/4 inches x 11 inches white illustration board in vertical or horizontal format.

The artwork must be accompanied by a separate write up or interpretation of the theme and the design written legibly in an A4 size bond. The artwork must be rendered using oil, acrylic, pastel on paper or canvass.

The materials would be provided by the PhlPost.

The winner in both the student and professional categories would receive P15,000 each, a stamp album and certificate of participation.

All entries would automatically become the property of PhlPost. For more information about the contest, call 527-01-08 or 527-01-32.
