Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Six Chinese were arrested in a raid on a suspected illegal drug laboratory in Valenzuela City yesterday afternoon.

Four of the suspects were identified as James Chua, Cai Shin, Cai Qing Chi and Leo Ching.

Seized during the raid were four kilos of high-grade shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride and chemicals used in manufacturing illegal drugs, Valenzuela police chief Senior Superintendent Rhoderick Armamento said.

Armamento said the drug lab could produce 15 to 20 kilos of shabu a day.

Members of the Northern Police District anti-illegal drugs unit and the Valenzuela police swooped down on a building along Omega street, Barangay Rincon at past 3 p.m.

The raid was made based on a search warrant issued by Valenzuela Judge Celso Magsino.

Armamento said the shabu laboratory had been under police surveillance since Oct. 2.

Police are still conducting an inventory of drug paraphernalia found in the laboratory.
