Ivler’s ma denies hiding son in her house
MANILA, Philippines - Marlene Aguilar-Pollard, the mother of road rage murder suspect Jason Ivler, denied she knowingly hid her son in her house where he was arrested by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation in 2010.
Aguilar-Pollard, in her judicial affidavit included in the formal offer of evidence on the obstruction charge filed against her, said she did not knowingly or willfully harbored Ivler to frustrate his arrest. The formal offer of evidence was submitted last week.
Ivler is accused of killing Renato Victor Ebarle Jr., son of former Palace official Renato Ebarle Sr., during a traffic altercation in November 2009.
He was arrested in the basement of his mother’s house on Jan. 18, 2010 in Quezon City, even though Aguilar-Pollard previously claimed that she was not aware of her son’s whereabouts.
Aguilar-Pollard, younger sister of singer-songwriter Freddie Aguilar, was charged with obstruction of justice over the incident. The case is pending before the Quezon City Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 39.
In the same formal offer of evidence, Aguilar-Pollard submitted photos and sketches of the her house, claiming it was such a big structure that it is possible for a person to hide in the property without her knowledge.
She said the house has 18 rooms, and that the basement where her son was found was cut off from the rest of the house.
Meanwhile, Ivler’s murder case is pending before RTC Branch 87 under Judge Luisito Cortez, with the defense currently presenting its evidence.
