Man kidnaps ex-girlfriend, 2 kids

MANILA, Philippines - A man who kidnapped his former girlfriend and her two children in Baguio City was arrested in Manila at past midnight yesterday.

Nelson Arzaga was charged with abduction for taking Rose Margarita Peralta and her two children, aged three and one, last Monday, according to Detective Jess Manalang of the Manila Police District (MPD) general assignment and investigation section.

He reportedly forced Peralta and her children into a car and brought them to Manila, Manalang said.

A team of police officers from the MPD and Baguio City arrested Arzaga and rescued his victims from a unit on the 15th floor of a condominium along P. Ocampo Sr. street in Malate at around 1 a.m.

Manalang said Peralta had children by another man after she broke off with Arzaga. The suspect, however, insisted that the children belong to him, Manalang said.
