MANILA, Philippines - More than 20,000 jobs are available at the mega job fair to be mounted by the Quezon City government on Tuesday at the city hall grounds.
There is a high demand for call center agents, office and clerical positions, store crew and sales personnel as well as local manpower pooling, according to the city’s Public Employment Services Office (PESO).
Slots for overseas employment, particularly nurses, domestic helpers, and other skilled workers such as welders, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, engineers, forklift operators, painters, drivers, masons and factory workers, will also be available at the job fair.
Mayor Herbert Bautista called on jobseekers to take advantage of the fair, saying over 60 establishments have confirmed participation in the event.
Among these are McDonalds, So-En garments, EEI Corp. and retail giant SM, which operates ACE Hardware, Watson’s, Our Home, Surplus Shop, Kultura Store and SM Supermarket.
The job fair is in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration and the Tripartite Industrial Peace Council.
The local government will hold simultaneous job fairs in six districts in the city on Oct. 11, which is the eve of the 75th founding anniversary of Quezon City. The district-based job fairs will be held at SM malls.
