C-5 road reblocking snarls traffic
MANILA, Philippines - A road reblocking at a portion of C-5 in Pasig snarled traffic in the area yesterday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said.
The MMDA will file a complaint of grave abuse of discretion against a district director of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and a contractor for the illegal road reblocking.
MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said the reblocking done by Jagonbuild Construction at the Pasig Boulevard flyover closed one of the two southbound lanes, causing a monstrous traffic jam that reached as far as Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City.
Tolentino said the reblocking was conducted without a permit and coordination from the MMDA.
The agency allows reblocking work only on weekends, the MMDA chief said.
Tolentino said they will file the complaint against DWPH district director Roberto Nicolas and the project’s contractor with the Office of the Ombudsman.
The reblocking started early yesterday morning before it was stopped by the MMDA.
