Deniece spends another night in jail despite posting bail
MANILA, Philippines - Detained model Deniece Cornejo has to spend another night in the women’s detention cell of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) at Camp Crame despite having posted bail yesterday.
Her lawyer, Ferdinand Topacio, said Cornejo is expected to be released today from detention once the documentary requirements for her release, which includes a duly signed court order, have been submitted.
The Taguig City court granted the bail petition of Cornejo and her co-accused, Cedric Lee and Zimmer Raz, and ordered them to put up P500,000 bail each for their temporary liberty.
Cornejo, Lee and Raz are facing serious illegal detention charges filed by television host and actor Ferdinand “Vhong” Navarro for allegedly beating up Navarro in her condominium unit in Taguig City last Jan. 22.
Lee and Raz have been released on bail Tuesday.
Topacio said his client’s release from the CIDG detention was supposed to happen yesterday but they were not able to secure the signature of a court official.
